Darjeeling's tea slopes and Kalimpong's hill gardens carry this four-night route, which skips Gangtok for two of the eastern Himalaya's gentler towns. Kanchenjunga views, the Zang Dhok Palri gompa and the Tiger Hill sunrise anchor a relaxed pair of bases linked by a single short mountain drive between them.

The Tea-Hill Pair

The Zang Dhok Palri gompa, Tharpa Choling monastery and flower nurseries fill the Kalimpong days, then Darjeeling brings the dawn run to Tiger Hill for the Kanchenjunga sunrise. The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and the surrounding tea estates round out the ridge, with only one short transfer between the two hill bases across the trip.
