After breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive to Corbett (approximately 5 hours 35 minutes / 195 kms).

Jim Corbett National Park is a part of the larger Corbett Tiger Reserve, a Project Tiger Reserve located in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand. Established in 1936 as Hailey National Park, it is India’s oldest and most prestigious national park and the place where Project Tiger was first launched in 1973. Spread across 520 square kilometers, the park comprises hills, marshy depressions, riverine belts, grasslands, and a large lake. Corbett is widely known for its rich tiger population and magical landscape.

To promote tourism, the park is divided into different zones where visitors can enjoy wildlife safaris:

Bijrani Safari Zone: Known for abundant natural beauty and open grasslands. Entry gate is just 1 km from Ramnagar city.

Jhirna Safari Zone: Open throughout the year. Entry gate is 16 km from Ramnagar.

Dhela Safari Zone: An eco-tourism zone included in the tiger reserve in November 2014. Located about 13 km from Ramnagar, it is open throughout the year and known for rich flora and fauna.

Dhikala Zone: The largest and most varied zone, famous for abundant wildlife sightings. Entry gate is 18 km from Ramnagar. Night stay inside Dhikala Tourism Zone is highly recommended for wildlife enthusiasts.

Durga Devi Zone: Located on the north-eastern boundary, about 36 km from Ramnagar. Ideal for bird watching.

Sitabani Buffer Zone: Not part of the Corbett Tiger Reserve area but known for its serene natural beauty.

There are two types of safaris conducted in the park:

    • Jeep Safari: A four-wheeler vehicle permitted in buffer zones. It is the most popular option as the smaller size allows access to hidden corners of the jungle. Jeep safaris operate in Bijrani, Jhirna, Durga Devi, Dhela, and Sitabani zones.
    • Canter Safari: Available only for those staying in the Dhikala zone (booking through the tourism website). It takes visitors to the region most inhabited by Royal Bengal Tigers and operates in two shifts under forest officials.

Upon arrival in Corbett, check in to the hotel and freshen up. Later, proceed for a nature walk along the Kosi River, which is a paradise for bird watchers. The evening is free for leisure activities.

    Corbett

Those who are interested can opt for a morning and afternoon safari in Jim Corbett National Park.

Safari Details: Visitors can book online Jeep Safari or Canter Safari for the five different zones of the park namely Bijrani, Jhirna, Dhikala, Dhela, and Durga Devi. All safari booking procedures at Corbett are managed strictly by the forest officials as per the guidelines of India’s Forest Department.

Please note that we cannot influence the safari zone, safari driver, or the naturalist guide, as the allocation is entirely handled by the forest authorities. All zones have a healthy population of tigers, and wildlife sightings are reported to be more or less similar across the zones.
