Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What are the standard check-in and check-out rules for the Alleppey Houseboat?

For an overnight stay, the standard check-in is at 12:00 PM and check-out is at 09:00 AM the following morning. The boat cruises until 05:30 PM, after which it must anchor by law to allow local fishermen to cast their nets. Safety is a priority, so night-time cruising is strictly prohibited by government regulations.

How does the Air Conditioning (AC) work on the houseboat and in the hills?

On a standard houseboat, AC is typically provided in the bedrooms from 09:00 PM to 06:00 AM (unless you book a full-time AC luxury boat). In the hill stations of Munnar and Thekkady, the weather is naturally cool throughout the year, so most 3-star hotels do not provide or require AC. In fact, you may need light woolens at night!

Is the boat ride at Periyar Lake (Thekkady) guaranteed?

Boat tickets for Periyar Lake are highly sought after and operate on a first-come, first-served basis through a queue system or limited online slots. While we facilitate your transfer to the sanctuary, we recommend arriving early or booking online in advance via the official Kerala Forest Department website to avoid disappointment.

What should I know about visiting the Eravikulam National Park in Munnar?

The park is the best place to see the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. However, please note that it usually closes for 2 months (typically Feb–March) every year during the calving season. Additionally, private vehicles are not allowed inside; you will need to take the designated park shuttle bus from the entrance.

Can the itinerary be customized for elderly travelers or children?

Yes. Since this is a Private Van Tour, we can adjust the pace. For seniors, we can skip high-altitude viewpoints like Top Station that require more walking and focus on the Tea Museum or more relaxed lakeside activities. For children, we can add more time at the Elephant Junction or the Blossom International Park.

Are meals included, and what kind of food can we expect?

Your package includes Daily Breakfast and Dinner at the hotels. On the Houseboat, you get a full-board experience (Lunch, Evening Snacks, Dinner, and Breakfast). The food is primarily authentic Kerala cuisine (rice, sambar, fish curry, and vegetable dishes), but North Indian options are available at most resorts if requested in advance.
