The Grandeur of Eastern India tour is a 5 Nights / 6 Days private van holiday exploring the majestic Himalayan hill stations of Gangtok (3 nights) and Darjeeling (2 nights) in India. You will start your journey with arrival at NJP Railway Station / Bagdogra Airport and transfer to Gangtok, where you stay for three nights and enjoy sightseeing including glacial lakes such as Tsomgo Lake, Baba Mandir, and optional Nathula Pass (permit & supplement apply), plus city attractions such as Jhakri Waterfall, Rumtek Monastery, Research Institute of Tibetology, Directorate of Handicrafts & Handloom, and Flower Show. After Gangtok, you travel to Darjeeling for two nights, where highlights include sunrise views at Tiger Hill, visits to the Japanese Temple & Peace Pagoda, Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Tenzing & Gombu Rock, the Tibetan Refugee Self-Help Center, toy train experiences (subject to availability), ropeway rides, and panoramic views of tea estates.     01

    Arrival NJP / IXB – Gangtok

    Gangtok (5412 Ft / 1650Mts, 130 Kms / 04 to 05 Hrs Drive)
    On arrival at New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) or Bagdogra Airport (IXB), you will be welcomed by our local representative who will assist you in boarding the vehicle for your transfer to Gangtok. The journey covers approximately 130 km and takes around 4 to 5 hours, passing through scenic mountain roads and beautiful landscapes.

    Gangtok, situated at an altitude of 5412 ft (1650 mts), is the charming capital of Sikkim known for its pleasant climate and stunning Himalayan views. Upon arrival, check in to the hotel and relax after the journey.

    02

    Gangtok – Excursion to Tshangu Lake & New Baba Mandir

    Tshangu Lake (12400Ft / 3780 Mts / 43 Kms / 02 Hrs Drive one way) & New Baba Mandir (13100 Ft / 3994 Mts / 18 Kms / 01 Hrs further drive from Tshangu Lake)
    After breakfast, proceed for a full-day excursion to Tshangu Lake and New Baba Mandir. Tshangu Lake, located at an altitude of 12400 ft (3780 mts), is a beautiful glacial lake surrounded by rugged mountains and remains one of the most popular attractions near Gangtok. From there, continue the drive for another 18 km (approx. 1 hour) to visit New Baba Mandir, situated at 13100 ft (3994 mts), a revered shrine dedicated to Baba Harbhajan Singh.

    After completing the sightseeing, return to Gangtok for an overnight stay at the hotel.

    Important Notes:

    1. For visiting Tshangu Lake & New Baba Mandir, you must carry 02 passport-size photographs along with a photocopy of a valid photo ID proof (Passport / Driving License / Voter ID). Pan Card and Aadhaar Card are not accepted. For children below 18 years, School ID / College ID is mandatory. Original documents must be carried while travelling.
    2. In case the visit to Tshangu Lake is not possible due to landslides or any unforeseen reasons, alternative sightseeing will be arranged.
    3. The permit process for Foreigners, OCI & PIO card holders is completely different. Kindly inform in advance so the itinerary can be planned accordingly.

    Optional Tour:
    Visit to Nathula Pass (14137 Ft / 4310 Mts) at the Indo-China Border (remains closed on Mondays for tourists). This visit is allowed only for Indian nationals, subject to advance permit and available at an additional cost. For rates, kindly refer to the Supplement & Optional Cost column provided with the main package details.

    Gangtok

    After breakfast, proceed for a full-day sightseeing tour of Gangtok, situated at an altitude of 5412 ft (1650 mts). Begin with a visit to Tashi View Point, offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Continue to Ganesh Tok, a small temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha, known for its scenic location.

    Next, visit Enchey Monastery, an important Buddhist monastery, followed by Do-rul Chorten, one of the most significant stupas in Sikkim. Proceed to the Research Institute of Tibetology (closed on Saturday, Sunday, local festivals, and State & National Government holidays), which houses rare Buddhist manuscripts and artifacts.

    Later, visit the Directorate of Handicraft & Handloom (closed on Saturday, Sunday, local festivals, and State & National Government holidays) to see traditional Sikkimese handicrafts, and the Flower Show (closed on Saturday, Sunday, local festivals, and State & National Government holidays), showcasing a vibrant display of seasonal flowers. Conclude the sightseeing with a visit to Banjhakari Falls, a scenic waterfall surrounded by landscaped gardens.

    Gangtok – Darjeeling

    After breakfast, check out from the hotel in Gangtok and proceed with your transfer to Darjeeling, covering a distance of approximately 110 km in about 4 to 5 hours. The journey offers scenic views of hills, valleys, and winding mountain roads.

    On arrival in Darjeeling, located at an altitude of 6710 ft (2046 mts), check in to the hotel and relax for the day.

    Darjeeling

    Early morning at around 04:00 AM (subject to clear weather), proceed to Tiger Hill (8482 Ft / 2586 Mts) to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the mighty Kanchendzonga Peak, the third highest peak in the world. After enjoying this spectacular view, return to the hotel for breakfast.

    Post breakfast, continue for a half-day sightseeing tour of Darjeeling. Visit the Japanese Temple & Peace Pagoda, followed by the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park and the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (closed on Thursday, local festivals, and State & National Government holidays). Later, see Tenzing & Gombu Rock and enjoy a panoramic tour of a Tea Estate, where you can admire the lush green tea gardens.

    Important Note:

    1. The Tiger Hill visit is subject to availability of coupons, as only 600 vehicles are allowed in the morning. In case coupons are not available, the Tiger Hill visit will be arranged after breakfast.

    Darjeeling – NJP / IXB

    After breakfast, check out from the hotel and transfer to New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) or Bagdogra Airport (IXB) for your onward journey. The drive covers approximately 100 km and takes about 3 to 4 hours through scenic routes.

    Optional Activity:
    Take a detour to visit Pashupati Nagar (Indo-Nepal Border) for shopping and Mirik Lake (4905 Ft / 1495 Mts).

    Important Note for Pashupati Nagar Visit:

    The vehicle will stop on the Indian side of the border. Guests will need to walk to the Nepalese side, where they can hire a local taxi (INR 400–500 one way) to reach the market, or walk approximately 2 km to the market.
