On arrival at Dehradun airport, you will drive to Corbett and check into your hotel. After freshening up, you can head out for a nature walk along the Kosi River, a haven for bird watchers and nature enthusiasts. The highlight of your trip is Jim Corbett National Park, part of the larger Corbett Tiger Reserve in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand. Known as the “Magical Landscape” for its rich tiger population, the park was founded in 1936 as Hailey National Park, making it India’s oldest National Park. In 1973, it became the birthplace of Project Tiger, an initiative to protect the endangered Royal Bengal Tiger, earning the nickname “Tiger Territory”. Visitors can explore the park through two types of safaris. The Jeep Safari is ideal for all buffer zones, allowing access to hidden corners of the jungle due to the jeep’s smaller size. The Canter Safari is available only in the Dhikala zone (bookable through the official tourism website) and takes visitors to the areas most inhabited by tigers, conducted in two shifts by Corbett forest officials.
