For those visiting in late summer, a Total Solar Eclipse on August 12 will pass directly over Western Iceland and Reykjavik—a once-in-a-lifetime event that has travelers from around the world heading to the Westfjords and the capital.

While the world-famous Blue Lagoon remains an icon of the Reykjanes Peninsula, the country has introduced several new ways to soak:

• Laugars Lagoon: A brand-new geothermal spa nestled on the South Coast, offering a more tranquil, two-story experience with a gourmet restaurant.
