Sikkim, the “Brother of the Seven Sisters,” is a mystical Himalayan kingdom that became India’s first fully organic state. Crowned by the mighty Kanchenjunga (the world’s third-highest peak), it is a sanctuary of alpine lakes, ancient monasteries, and vibrant rhododendron forests, offering a sophisticated high-altitude escape defined by spiritual calm and raw mountain power.
The Urban Gateway: Gangtok
MG Marg: A pristine, pedestrian-only boulevard that serves as the heart of the city. With its European-style benches, chic cafes, and boutique shops, it is the premier spot for a high-comfort evening of people-watching and local shopping.
Gangtok Ropeway: A modern cable car that glides over the city, offering a breathtaking bird’s-eye view of the valley and the lush green ridges against the backdrop of the snow peaks.
Rumtek Monastery: Located 24 km from the capital, this is the seat of the Kagyu order of Tibetan Buddhism. Its golden roof, intricate murals, and serene prayer halls make it one of the most significant and peaceful spiritual centers in Asia.
Tashi Viewpoint: The best spot near the city to witness the first rays of the sun hitting the Kanchenjunga range.
The Sacred & The High: East Sikkim
Tsomgo (Changu) Lake: An ethereal glacial lake situated at 3,753 meters. Surrounded by jagged peaks, its turquoise waters are considered sacred. Experience a fun Yak Ride along the lake’s edge, draped in traditional Sikkimese attire.
Nathula Pass: A historic point on the ancient Silk Route at 4,310 meters on the Indo-China border. Standing at the heavily guarded gateway while looking into the Chumbi Valley of Tibet is a high-adrenaline experience.
Baba Mandir: A unique shrine dedicated to “Baba” Harbhajan Singh, an Indian soldier whose spirit is believed to still guard the border. It is a site of deep reverence for both the military and travelers.
The Alpine Frontier: North Sikkim
Gurudongmar Lake: One of the highest lakes in the world (5,430 meters). The water here is believed to have been blessed by Guru Padmasambhava, and remarkably, a portion of the lake never freezes, even in extreme winter. It is a high-altitude desert landscape that feels truly otherworldly.
Yumthang Valley (Valley of Flowers): A stunning meadow where the Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary showcases over 24 varieties of the flower. During spring, the valley is a riot of color, while the nearby Hot Springs offer a therapeutic soak in the cold mountain air.
Zero Point (Yumesamdong): The last motorable point before the international border, where the road literally ends in a vast expanse of perpetual snow.
The Kanchenjunga Gateway: Pelling & Ravangla
Pelling Skywalk: India’s first glass skywalk, offering a thrilling walk over a deep valley leading to a colossal 137-foot statue of Chenrezig. The view of Kanchenjunga from here is arguably the clearest in the state.
Rabdentse Ruins: The 17th-century capital of the former Kingdom of Sikkim. Walking through the stone ruins of the palace, surrounded by chestnut forests, provides a hauntingly beautiful historical perspective.
Buddha Park (Ravangla): Home to a 130-foot tall golden Buddha statue. The park is masterfully landscaped, offering a quiet, meditative environment with 360-degree mountain views.
High-Himalayan Luxury & Wellness
Sikkim has developed a niche for “Eco-Luxury” and boutique mountain stays:
Elite Resorts: Properties like Mayfair Spa Resort & Casino (Gangtok) and Taj Guras Kutir Resort & Spa offer world-class luxury with traditional Sikkimese hospitality.
The Elgin Mount Pandim (Pelling): A heritage property that offers a nostalgic, “old-world” royal experience with unobstructed views of the sacred peaks.
Glamping in the Clouds: For a unique stay, boutique dome-stays like The Stargazer in Gangtok offer a futuristic experience where you can watch the Milky Way from your bed.
Sikkim is where "The Sacred meets the Sky." Whether you are witnessing the golden sunrise on Kanchenjunga, crossing the high-altitude Nathula Pass, or meditating in the golden halls of Rumtek, our travel plans ensure a high-comfort, culturally profound journey through India’s mountain jewel.
