Covering a distance of approximately 297 kilometers in around 7 hours, the journey gradually takes you from the bustling city roads to the refreshing hills of Uttarakhand.
Known as the gem of Uttarakhand, Nainital is one of the most popular and exquisite hill stations in the Kumaon region. The town derives its name from the beautiful Naini Lake, which, along with several other lakes, has earned it the title of the “City of Lakes.” This charming destination enjoys a pleasant climate throughout the year and offers something for every traveler — picturesque landscapes, serene lakes, adventure activities, delightful local food, and vibrant shopping experiences, all with excellent quality and charm.
Upon arrival, check in at your hotel or resort and relax after the journey.
Overnight stay in Nainital.
After breakfast at the hotel, proceed for a full day of sightseeing around Nainital and Bhimtal. The day begins with an optional excursion to Sattal (at additional cost), a beautiful cluster of seven freshwater lakes nestled in the lower Himalayan range near Bhimtal. Surrounded by dense forests, it is a peaceful retreat for nature lovers. You may also visit Naukuchiatal (optional at additional cost), popularly known as the “Lake of Nine Corners,” famous for its scenic beauty and calm surroundings.
Continue to Bhimtal Lake, a picturesque lake located in the town of Bhimtal, offering serene views and a tranquil atmosphere. Later, visit the Nainital Zoo, situated at an altitude of 2100 meters above sea level in Tallital. Also known as Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant High Altitude Zoo, it is home to rare Himalayan wildlife including Tibetan wolves, leopard cats, sambar, Lady Amherst pheasant, red jungle fowl, and rose-ringed parakeet. The zoo remains open from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm, and the entry fee is INR 50 per adult and INR 20 per child.
In the evening, enjoy leisure time at Mall Road, one of the most lively areas of Nainital. The town is especially famous for its handmade candles crafted by local artisans in unique designs, shapes, and patterns. Collecting these beautiful candles is one of the most delightful things to do here, and they make wonderful additions to your home décor.
Overnight stay in Nainital.
After breakfast, enjoy some relaxed time at the resort. Later, proceed for local sightseeing in Nainital. Begin with a visit to Tiffin Top, a popular peak located about 4 km from the heart of Nainital. It offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding hills and town. The spot makes for a pleasant trek, and pony rides are also available for those who prefer an easier way up.
Next, experience the Nainital Ropeway, which takes you from Mallital to Snow View Point. The ropeway ride provides a spectacular bird’s-eye view of the hill station and is a must-try for those who enjoy elevated scenic views.
Continue to the sacred Naina Devi Temple, dedicated to Goddess Naina Devi, who is believed to govern Naini Lake. It is considered one of the 64 Shakti Peeths in India. The temple remains open from 4:00 am to 10:00 pm and offers a peaceful spiritual atmosphere where visitors can spend some quiet and refreshing moments.
Later, visit Raj Bhawan, also known as the Governor’s House. Built by the British in 1924, this magnificent two-storey mansion with around 113 rooms reflects architectural inspiration from Buckingham Palace, London. Visitors are allowed to explore its expansive lawns and the beautifully maintained 18-hole golf course set amidst a scenic forest that is home to rare flora and fauna.
Conclude the day at the iconic Naini Lake, the most popular and picturesque lake in Nainital. Pear-shaped in structure, the lake beautifully reflects the surrounding green hills. You can enjoy boating, yachting, or paddling while taking in the cool breeze and peaceful sunset views.
Overnight stay in Nainital.
After breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive towards Jim Corbett National Park, located at the foothills of the Himalayas in Uttarakhand. Covering a distance of around 65 kilometers in approximately 2 hours, the journey takes you from the serene hills to the lush wilderness of Corbett.
En route, visit the peaceful Garjiya Devi Temple, one of the most sacred and calming places near Corbett. Dedicated to Mata Garjiya Devi, the temple is situated beside the beautiful Kosi River, offering mesmerizing panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, trees, and the gently flowing river. Visiting the temple on Kartik Poornima is considered especially auspicious, as it is believed that sincere prayers offered on this day fulfill devotees’ wishes. The serene atmosphere here instantly brings a sense of inner peace.
Upon arrival in Corbett, explore the legacy of Jim Corbett National Park, which is part of the larger Corbett Tiger Reserve under Project Tiger and lies in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand. Established in 1936 as Hailey National Park, it holds the distinction of being India’s oldest and one of the most prestigious national parks. The park’s landscape is a stunning blend of hills, marshy depressions, river belts, grasslands, and large lakes, and it is globally known for its rich population of Royal Bengal Tigers.
The park is divided into six different zones, including popular tourism zones such as Bijrani, Jhirna, Durgadevi, Dhela, and Sitabani. Safari experiences are conducted in two main ways. The Jeep Safari, a four-wheeler vehicle permitted in buffer zones, is the most popular option as it allows visitors to explore deeper and lesser-known corners of the jungle. The Canter Safari is available only in the Dhikala zone (booking through the official tourism website) and operates in two shifts under the supervision of Corbett forest officials, offering access to one of the most tiger-inhabited regions of the park.
After reaching, check in to the hotel and freshen up. Later, proceed for a peaceful nature walk along the banks of the Kosi River, a paradise for bird watchers.
Overnight stay in Corbett.
After breakfast, the day is free for wildlife enthusiasts who wish to experience the thrill of a jungle safari at Jim Corbett National Park. Guests interested in exploring the forest can opt for a morning or afternoon safari. Visitors can book a Jeep Safari or Canter Safari online for any of the five tourism zones — Bijrani, Jhirna, Dhikala, Dhela, and Durgadevi.
All safari bookings and procedures at Corbett are strictly managed by forest officials in accordance with the guidelines of India’s Forest Department. Please note that the allocation of safari zone, safari driver, and naturalist guide is entirely handled by the forest authorities and cannot be influenced. These aspects are controlled through an automated computerized system to ensure equal distribution of safari vehicles across all zones. Each zone maintains a healthy population of tigers and wildlife, and sightings are reported to be more or less similar across the park.
After completing the safari (if opted), return to the hotel or resort. Spend the remaining time at leisure.
